I have been reading a book these days, the days I don’t have to go to work. I grabbed the book because I think it is related to my work.
My work is something that is supposed to be creative. “Creative” is the word I heard most when I told people what my job is. But it ended up to be more than that. The book is not only about being creative but also about our lives in general.
I was impressed with the book because it is simple yet profound, brief yet insightful. The ideas are so helpful and do help me in life. The book I am talking about is STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST by Austin Kleon. I am going to extract some quotations, some advice, some ideas from the book that really resonates with me.
“Establishing and keeping a routine can be even more important than having a lot of time”
This sentence may be my favorite one, although it was put almost at the end of the book. It empowered me to decide the most important thing in my life.

“Don’t wait until you know who you are to get started”
No one is born and know who they are without finding, in the act of making things and doing work that we figure out who we are.

“Nothing is Original”
This is the last thing I want to share with you. This strong statement helps me keep learning from other, keep schooling myself. Every artist gets asked the question “Where do you get your ideas”. The honest artist answers “I steal them”. The thing is you know how to steal and what is worth to steal.
